An environmental education interpreter connects people to our local environment. This person will play a key role in ensuring that visitors and students have a meaningful, satisfying, and educational experience at our museum This job is designed to help students decide how to spend their time wisely as informed conservationists, and inform them about the wonders that await them in the local Nilgiris environment.
An environmental interpreter engages the public so that each student/visitor can find a personal connection with the meanings, values, and concerns found in the places and stories of the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve. This person will help visitors and students explore the many dimensions of the Nilgiris by introducing them to a variety of perspectives. By providing the opportunity for students to become aware about the place they live in, this person will be promoting stewardship and the opportunity for future generations to care for the local resources.
The Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve is ranked among the world’s top 10 biodiversity hot spots. The work done by our museum interpreter will be that of effective representation and explanation to museum guests, to head the project of furthering the development and implementation of our educational program, to assist in the promotion of our relatively new museum to the greater public, and to overall assist Keystone in broadening public support for preserving and protecting natural resources, so that they may be enjoyed by present and future generations.
